macrogramma volume 1 – il primo mio primo EP online su bandcamp.
Dopo vent’anni di prove e appunti musicali, mi sono accorto di avere una gran quantità di brani senza committente rimasti in attesa di un contesto o di una semplice occasione per essere terminati. Più il tempo passa più mi accorgo che i concetti di “definitivo” e “ultimato” stanno diventando sempre più sfuggenti. In questo gruppo di lavori ci sono sia brani singoli che pochi progetti più ad ampio respiro. Pensando che su tutto questo corpus di composizioni non sarebbe mai calata spontaneamente la parola “definitivo”, ho deciso di liberarli gradualmente dal limbo del provvisorio, correggendo l’indispensabile e lasciando inalterata per quanto possibile l’intenzione originale. Questo “macrogramma volume 1” è una prima uscita e raccoglie due brani registrati nel 2001.

After twenty years of rehearsals and musical sketches, I realized that I had a lot of songs without a client waiting for a context or a simple occasion to be finished. The more time passes, the more I realize that the concepts of “final” and “completed” are becoming increasingly elusive. In this group of works there are both single pieces and a few larger projects. Thinking that the word “definitive” will never come spontaneously for all this corpus of compositions, I decided to gradually free them from the limbo of the provisional, correcting as little as possible and leaving the original mood unchanged as far as possible. This “macrogramma volume 1” is the first release and contains two tracks recorded in 2001.
Evoluzione (2001)
Ho un ricordo abbastanza definito della realizzazione di Evoluzione. È un brano ispirato ad una storia originale di Dario Panzeri, per la composizione mi sono fatto guidare dalla partitura e da un pattern creato con chitarra e delay. Ricordo che a un certo punto pensando al finale avevo coniato questo sottotitolo: “Ed infinitamente continuiamo ad immaginarci”. Ora mi sfugge in parte il senso…

I have a fairly clear memory of the making of Evolution. It is a track inspired by an original story by Dario Panzeri, for the composition I was guided by the score and by a pattern created with guitar and delay. I remember that at a certain point, thinking about the ending, I coined a subtitle: “And we continue to imagine ourselves infinitely”. Now the meaning is not quite clear to me…
Mod 47 (2001)
Di questo Mod 47 ricordo molto poco, a parte il fatto che è stato fatto di sera e che è il sunto di una lunga improvvisazione rimaneggiata con loop. Resta però inalterata l’impressione emotiva di sospesa sonnolenza, che mi torna in mente ogni rara volta che lo riascolto, anche a distanza di quasi vent’anni.

I remember very little about Mod 47, apart from that it was made in the evening and that it is the sum of a long improvisation manipulated with loops. However, the emotional impression of suspended sleepiness remains unchanged, it comes up every rare time I listen it again, even after almost twenty years.
